Interview with Jon Gold...
I have been waiting for this interview for a long time and I am so happy I can finally share it with you! Today's interview is with Jon Gold. Jon is, in my opinion, one of the most talented web and graphic designers in the world. He has a sense of how to make things beautiful and functional. Please take a look!
Q. When/How did you start designing?
A. I originally got into graphic design when I was 16 to make album covers and posters for my rock bands (as lots of my friends did); I'd been dabbling in Photoshop & HTML for years before that - no one told me that 'graphic design' was a job though! Over the years I realised I was better at design than playing guitar, and that interface & web design was more exciting than print.
Q. What was your experience like in Silicon Valley?
A. San Francisco and the Valley are absolutely amazing places; there's real magic in the air. So many talented, passionate, motivated people in such a small geographic space— no wonder such great things happen there.
Q. What can we expect from Jon Gold in the future?
A. I'm working on some really exciting, futuristic iOS interfaces for clients, and some cool little side projects.
Q. If you could say something to your 13-year-old self what would it be?
A. Getting a design education is important, but don't neglect learning in other areas. Every life experience makes you a better designer so open yourself up to as much as possible.
Q. If you could have one superpower what would it be and what would you do with it?
A. I wish I could slow down—or pause—time. I love design which means I'm happy to work really late and at weekends, but it would be nice to have more time to spend with my girlfriend, friends & family!
