Interview with John O'Nolan(@JohnONolan)

It's good to be back.

Today we have five questions with a designer, traveler, photographer extraordinaire. John O'Nolan is the founder of the hottest travel site on the planet, John is an amazing designer and can do some real magic with a camera. I must be honest though, two of the reasons I wanted to interview John were his website, and the fact that his location on Twitter is, "Location independent ✈."

What is your favorite place on Earth?

It varies, I travel a lot. At the moment I think I would say Traunsee in Austria - which is a beautiful lake surrounded by aw-inspiring mountains. I like mountains.

How/why/when did you get into design?

I got into web design when I was at school. We had an HTML module in IT class when I was about 12, and I absolutely loved it. Years later I started hacking together websites for bands which I loved at the time... and then one day someone asked me how much I charged to make websites. >From there on it was a long and completely self-taught process to get myself up to an eventual professional standard!

What does your workspace look like?

It's a Macbook Air. I take it with me all over the world and sit myself down wherever looks comfy. Some days it's a cafe, other days it's a beach, other days still it's a plane tray table. I don't live anywhere, so I have to make an office for myself wherever I travel. My office is wherever the nearest internet connection is.

As I write this right now, that happens on the terrace of an apartment I'm renting on the North East Coast of Brazil, overlooking the ocean. It's quite nice!

If you had one billion dollars to blow away, what would you do?

Create a startup dedicated to completely reforming the education system and making it open and accessible to anyone in the world - and, most importantly, relevant to modern society.

What can we expect from you in the future?

I wish I knew. My life is an adventure and I'm enjoying the ride. But I'll try to make it as awesome as possible.
